PMRC signs Credit Trust agreement with six banks to promote low-cost housing loans

KARACHI: The Pakistan Mortgage Refinance Company (PMRC) has signed a 10-year risk Credit Guarantee Trust (CGT) agreement with six Islamic and conventional banks to promote low-cost housing loans. The World Bank and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) extended their support for the establishment of CGT. The leading banks include Meezan Bank, Habib Bank, Bank Islami, Faysal Bank, JS Bank and Soneri Bank, with PMRC as the trustee. Under this agreement, the PMRC will provide up to 40% risk coverage as a credit guarantee for banks’ housing loans, on a first loss basis. Peshawar Model Town initiation set for March 2021

PESHAWAR: Authorities have announced to launch work on Peshawar Model Town in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. The project is set to feature 82,000 residential plots in the provincial capital. The relevant authorities have also been directed to ensure timely completion of all the arrangements for groundbreaking which is scheduled for March of 2021. Govt to consider extending PM’s construction amnesty scheme  

ISLAMABAD: Given the success of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s tax amnesty scheme for the construction industry, the Federal Government is considering extending the scheme by three to six months. It was revealed that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has been directed by the PM’s office to prepare a draft of a presidential ordinance to further extend the tax amnesty scheme. As per the deadline, the scheme will expire on December 31, 2020. Promoting construction activities, the authorities registered over 350 projects, with an estimated cost of Rs140 billion under the scheme. ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IMWB) announced an uplift project worth Rs1.8 billion, informed Chairperson Rina Saeed Khan. Pakistan maintains current account surplus for 5th consecutive month

KARACHI: Pakistan has recorded a current account surplus for the fifth consecutive month, reporting a surplus of $447 million in November. The current account stands at $1.64 billion in the ongoing fiscal year 2021. The State Bank of Pakistan cited an improved trade balance and an increase in the flow of remittances for the recorded surplus.
